DISNEY WEEK!!!! I can’t think of anything better than a whole night dedicated to the best Disney movies of all time. Dancing to Circle of Life dressed up as lions with Wanya was truly magical (see what I did there ;)) Samba is an extremely tough dance, it is one of (if not the hardest) dance to teach a celebrity. There is so much technique involved that takes years to master and we have to try and get our celebrity to learn that in 5 days. Wanya worked really hard this week on the technique of this dance, he really wanted to look the part and not just get by. I, again, did not take it easy on him with our choreography! I taught Wanya a professional level samba because I wanted to challenge him, at this point in the game we have to keep improving and not take a step back.
We got our first 9’s with this routine but unfortunately didn’t get 9’s from all of the judges. Carrie Ann gave us an 8 with feedback about Wanya’s energy throughout the routine. She felt that he had a little bit too much intensity, which caused him to lose control of me at a moment in our dance. I can agree with Carrie Ann and say that Wanya definitely took the intensity to a whole new level when it came to our live performance which I LOVE. This new intensity did cause him to lose focus on some of the details that we had worked on throughout the week. I think what we can do to improve on this is to make sure that intensity is there all week so that when it comes to show day there are no surprises. It is easy as a performer to get carried away in the lights, camera, action aspect of your performance, which is great for the audience because they will feel your genuine energy but from a judges stand point they also need to see the technique and details in your performance. Wanya and I will never work on this and strive to better every single week!
Overall I just had so much FUN! The energy I feel when dancing on the DWTS stage is truly indescribable and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Thank you to all those who are supporting and voting for us! You are the reason we are still here and we hope you will continue to keep us around until the very end 🙂 Much love,
