Since baby Sage’s arrival, it’s safe to say it’s been a tornado trying to keep up with the laundry and basic organization that I live for! Now that we’ve entered the new year, it’s time to get back to business and really dedicate some time to organizing my home. Since we’ve been a family of 3 for a few months now, it’s easier to tell the stuff that we tend to use more frequently that needs to be in immediate reach vs. the things that can be stored in her closet. If you’re a new mama going through the same right now, this post is all about cutting out the clutter and organizing, so you actually know where things are! Keep scrolling for 3 of my biggest tips for anyone who’s trying to re-organize that room in your house you’ve been neglecting for too long.
#1 Cutting Out Clutter
Before you start organizing any space, it’s important to make sure everything you’re organizing is actually still useful and necessary! I usually make this easy by sorting everything into two piles, keep or donate. If it’s a baby product that we might not need anymore, I try to donate whatever possible to make sure nothing goes to waste.
#2 Sorting
This brings me to my next point, after I’m done cutting out the clutter, I start sorting into different categories, including priority. If it’s something that I’m reaching for multiple times a day – it belongs in plain sight so that I can grab it easily! If it’s something that I might not need daily, like extra swaddles, blankets, onesies – I can set it aside to put in her dresser or closet!
#3 Labeling Everything
I’m a label junkie! It gives me so much satisfaction to open up baby girl’s dresser or closet (or honestly any part of my home) and see all the organized labels, so everything has a place and a corresponding label. I’m a big believer that labeling things can actually keep you more motivated to stay organized and put everything back in its rightful place.
